"अपरा एकादशी व्रत कथा

अर्जुन ने कहा- ""हे प्रभु! ज्येष्ठ माह की कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी का क्या नाम है? तथा उसका माहात्म्य क्या है? इसमें किस देवता का पूजन किया जाता है तथा इस व्रत को करने का क्या विधान है? कृपा कर यह सब मुझे विस्तारपूर्वक बतायें।""

श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा- ""हे अर्जुन! ज्येष्ठ माह के कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी का नाम अपरा है, क्योंकि यह अपार धन और पुण्यों को देने वाली तथा समस्त पापों का नाश करने वाली है। जो मनुष्य इसका व्रत करते हैं, उनकी लोक में प्रसिद्धि होती है। अपरा एकादशी के व्रत के प्रभाव से ब्रह्महत्या, प्रेत योनि, दूसरे की निन्दा आदि से उत्पन्न पापों का नाश हो जाता है, इतना ही नहीं, स्त्रीगमन, झूठी गवाही, असत्य भाषण, झूठा वेद पढ़ना, झूठा शास्त्र बनाना, ज्योतिष द्वारा किसी को भरमाना, झूठा वैद्य बनकर लोगो को ठगना आदि भयंकर पाप भी अपरा एकादशी के व्रत से नष्ट हो जाते हैं।

भगवान शंकर का सबसे मीठा भजन: गौरी शंकर

युद्धक्षेत्र से भागे हुए क्षत्रिय को नरक की प्राप्ति होती है, किन्तु अपरा एकादशी का व्रत करने से उसे भी स्वर्ग की प्राप्ति हो जाती है।

गुरू से विद्या अर्जित करने के उपरान्त जो शिष्य गरु की निन्दा करते हैं तो वे अवश्य ही नरक में जाते हैं। अपरा एकादशी का व्रत करने से इनके लिये स्वर्ग जाना सम्भव हो जाता है।

तीनों पुष्करों में स्नान करने से या कार्तिक माह में स्नान करने से अथवा गंगाजी के तट पर पितरों को पिण्डदान करने से जो फल प्राप्त होता है, वही फल अपरा एकादशी का व्रत करने से प्राप्त होता है। 

भोले बाबा का सबसे बढ़िया भजन: काशी भी तेरी तेरा केदार है

बृहस्पति के दिन गोमती नदी में स्नान करने से, कुम्भ में श्रीकेदारनाथजी के दर्शन करने से तथा बदरिकाश्रम में रहने से तथा सूर्य ग्रहण एवं चन्द्र ग्रहण में कुरुक्षेत्र में स्नान करने से जो फल सिंह राशि वालों को प्राप्त होता है, वह फल अपरा एकादशी के व्रत के समान है। जो फल हाथी-घोड़े के दान से तथा यज्ञ में स्वर्णदान (सुवर्णदान) से प्राप्त होता है, वह फल अपरा एकादशी के व्रत के फल के बराबर है। गौ तथा भूमि या स्वर्ण के दान का फल भी इसके फल के समान होता है।

पापरूपी वृक्षों को काटने के लिये यह व्रत कुल्हाड़ी के समान है तथा पापरूपी अन्धकार के लिये सूर्य के समान है।

अतः मनुष्य को इस एकादशी का व्रत अवश्य ही करना चाहिये। यह व्रत सब व्रतों में उत्तम है। अपरा एकादशी के दिन श्रद्धापूर्वक भगवान श्रीविष्णु का पूजन करना चाहिये। जिससे अन्त में विष्णुलोक की प्राप्ति होती है।

हे राजन! मैंने यह अपरा एकादशी की कथा लोकहित के लिये कही है। इसके पठन व श्रवण से सभी पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं।'

कथा-सार

अपरा अर्थात अपार या अतिरिक्त, जो प्राणी एकादशी का व्रत करते हैं, उन्हें भगवान श्रीहरि विष्णु की अतिरिक्त भक्ति प्राप्त होती है। भक्ति और श्रद्धा में वृद्धि होती है।"

Shri Krishna said- ""O Arjuna! The name of Ekadashi of the Krishna Paksha of Jyestha month is Apara, because it gives immense wealth and virtues and destroys all sins. The people who observe this fast, they get fame in the world. With the effect of fasting on Apara Ekadashi, the sins caused by Brahmatya, ghost form, condemnation of others, etc. are destroyed, not only this, adultery, false testimony, false speech, reading false Vedas, making false scriptures, deceiving someone through astrology. Even the terrible sins of cheating people by becoming a false doctor etc. are destroyed by the fast of Apara Ekadashi.

A Kshatriya who runs away from the battlefield gets hell, but by fasting on Apara Ekadashi, he also gets heaven.

Those disciples who blaspheme the Guru after getting knowledge from the Guru, they definitely go to hell. By fasting on Apara Ekadashi, it becomes possible for them to go to heaven.

The fruit that is obtained by bathing in all the three Pushkaras or by bathing in the month of Kartik or by offering pindadan to ancestors on the banks of Gangaji, the same fruit is obtained by fasting on Apara Ekadashi.
